Mary Conklin, 80 of Temperance, MI, died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Aspen Grove Assisted Living. She had been a resident of Aspen Grove for the past  3 years, where she was referred to as “Mother Theresa” for her loving care and wanting to help others.  This was her life mission.   Born April 26, 1936, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Frank and Christina (Mucci) Spiga.  She married Robert Conklin on August 20, 1955.  He preceded her in death on July 19, 1999.  Mary was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, where she was active with Meals on Wheels, Keen-Agers and the funeral luncheon program. She enjoyed the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and bingo.

She is survived by her loving children, Linda(James) Plank, Diane (Lonnie) Verbon, and Judy (David) Baldwin; brothers, Anthony and Frank Spiga; sisters, Josephine (Orval) McMahon and Lucy Grooms; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Gotha and brother, Joseph Spiga.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 29, 2106, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI.  Arrangements by the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, Temperance, MI.  www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
